Job Summary
The Phytech Operations Team Manager is a player/coach role. Eighty percent of the time they are performing work themselves in the field, and the other twenty-percent of the time they are responsible for leading a small team of 1-4 level I, II, and III technicians doing the same. This includes primarily monitoring equipment installs, uninstalls, reinstalls and maintenance; but may include automation, warehouse, and any other work needed to help the company achieve its goals. The manager is responsible for their own proficiency, and training, leading, coaching, and making HR decisions for their team as well to achieve the company's objectives, and manage the techs that report to them. This position reports to either the Territory Manager or the VP of Operations.
Responsibilities
Executing their own work at the highest quality and speed possible
Actively gathering feedback from their team, and working with CSMs and Support Team to make the operations work more successful.
Ensure they and their team has the right equipment to be successful at their tasks
Make decisions about tasks when Israel support is offline that best serve the customers, but keep Support in the know of why the decision was made.
Coordinate with other departments, including regular communication to Support, to ensure that equipment is meeting the needs of the organization.
Making sure their techs have all of the working tools needed on the weekly pickup date (e.g., Tuesday morning)
Getting daily approvals from tech that they clocked in and report to Support if someone is missing, sick, late.
Answering calls from their team having issues in the field
Communicating feedback and issues to Support via email and WhatsApp calls/messages.
Making sure that all team members are qualified to perform all field work, and train technicians that have knowledge gaps.
Learn new products themselves, and train their team on them.
Making sure that all the tech are filling the inventory counts (e.g. twice a week)
Motivating and managing their team to make sure they are performing up to quality and quantity standards.
Advising Support about team member’s needs, whether it be different tools or help from other techs
Ensure that all equipment is maintained and repaired according to company standards and industry best practices.
Attend regular entry-level management development training
Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and guidelines.
Manage work accommodations needed for employees that are dealing with things like injuries, etc.
Communicate any vehicle changes to HR
Qualifications
Technician II level experience in agricultural technology equipment operation, maintenance, and repair.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to agricultural technology equipment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
Proficiency in computer software and technology systems related to equipment operation and maintenance.
