Cherry growers in the Riverland region of South Australia are the high stakes gamblers of the horticulture industry.
If they can dodge the hail events and mitigate the heat stress then they are the first to deliver a lucrative crop to the market place.
Local Renmark cherry grower, Leon Cotsaris, took up the Phytech service half way through last season during the critical bud differentiation phase that has determined the fruit load now hanging on his trees this season.
During a visit by Phytech staff, Leon was rightfully proud of the large crop as he guided our Australian Managing Director Mark Heyward and Field technician Luke Doecke through his newest orchard.
With more than 25 years prior experience Leon is considered a pioneering cherry grower in this region. He admits that he still has a lot to learn but the plant based feedback provided by the Phytech service is improving his odds.
