Hull split in Almonds - revolutionized

Writer: Phytech TeamPhytech Team

The Aussie almond harvest is underway and our clients have embraced the new ‘hull split algorithm’ for managing tree stress in the lead up to harvest. Our own Mark Heyward walks us through an orchard in this video to explain it further. The grower feedback has consistently reported: - less water applied through hull split period. - continuous hull split leading to reduced pest and disease pressure, especially hull rot. - more consistent hull split through each tree and across each block. - a greater percentage of nuts coming off in the first shake. - healthier looking trees and less leaves coming off in the shaking process. - improved conditions for drying nuts on the ground.
